Over the past few weeks, Queensland has experienced some of it’s worst flooding in over twenty years. The floods cover an area the size of New South Wales, or France and Germany combined, and has impacted on the lives of more than 200, 000 Queenslanders in more than 40 towns and cities.
Queensland is facing a multi-billion dollar infrastructure catastrophe due to the floods. The Qld Governement is coordinating an disaster appeal to assist residents affected by the floods. If you’d like to donate to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal go to www.qld.gov.au/floods. Donations can also be made in person at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank, NAB, Westpac, ANZ, BOQ, Suncorp, St.George Bank or BankSA, or at Coles supermarkets.
If you are unfamiliar with some of the areas affected, Googlemaps has a interactive Qld flood map that is regularly updated. Click here to view.
My thoughts are with all of the families affected by the floods; including the lives lost to the flash floods in Toowoomba. A special thank you to all emergency workers and rescue services, who in times of crisis, risk their lives for the sake of others.
