Party Prep: Place Card Luminaries

September 13, 2012

I’m madly getting through my DIY party crafts for my mother’s birthday party next week.  This morning I finished the place card luminaries and I shared them on Instagram.  After a friendly nudge, I thought I would post a couple of photos of the place cards.  I am very pleased with the results.

To make the luminaries, I bought some heavy stock translucent paper from my local paper store and printed the design directly onto the paper.  The paper was simply sealed with double-sided tape.  It was really quite easy to do.  I’ve ordered a bulk box of LED tea lights to go inside the luminary.   I can’t wait to see them on the table.

I love using tealights to create ambience at the dinner table or around the room.  For this project I had to use LED tea lights to ensure the paper didn’t catch alight.  The LED tealights actually give off a flickering flame look which, makes it look like a real candle flicker.  I added a strip of Washi tape to the tin packaging for a little festive flare.  I think I’ll try and source some pin-striped orange Washi tape to keep with the colour theme of grey and orange.  Well, I better get back into more crafting.  Next up are the menu fans.  Stay tuned for the next post.

Take care of you,
