Mason Jars for Your Party

June 18, 2012

It’s a popular wedding trend to use mason jars to serve cocktails and other refreshing drinks to guests.  I’ve taken inspiration and incorporated a couple of uses for mason jars as party decor.  You can use the jars as containers for cocktails, desserts, flowers and lighting. With a little time and preparation you can create a unique item for your next party. Check these out.

Create strawberry & ice cream dessert jars. Layer vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries in a jar and serve immediately. If you place the jars in the freezer, the strawberries will freeze. I think they are much better fresh. I also decorated my jar and wooden spoon with matching washi tape. Image via my Instagram.

Create Jordan Ferney’s personalised glasses at your next party.  Your guests can keep an eye on their glass and it’s a lovely party favour for the guests to take home after the party.  Click on the link to my Pinterest board ‘DIY Party Crafts‘ for the full DIY instructions.

Create these romantic jar tea lights for your party/dinner table. Use pages from damaged books and for a romantic theme use pages form books on poetry or romance. Visit I Love This for the complete DIY instructions.

Cakes and cupcakes in a jar are also quite popular. It’s a unique way to re-use and serve individual desserts. Check out this recipe for the Blueberry Pies by Brooklyn Supper.

Need to find a lot of jars for your next party? I have found a wide variety of jars at my local $2 shop and at my local markets. The small jars range between $1-4. You could also ask folks at your office or child’s school to save their jars for you. A thorough hot wash and they will be ready to go. It’s a very affordable and eco-friendly DIY party craft.
