Cocktail Hour: St Germain Cocktail

August 10, 2012

Last weekend I had a decadent long lunch at my girlfriend’s place and I decided to make a couple of St Germain cocktails to kick off our lunch. The St Germain is essentially a champagne cocktail using St Germain liqueur (a French artisan elderflower liqueur).  It’s very easy to mix and the taste is very refreshing.

The cocktail is traditionally served in a highball (long glass), however we chose to use a more rounded glass (image below). Here’s the recipe for the St Germain cocktail.

St Germain Cocktail

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 1½ parts St Germain liqueur
  • 2 parts sparkling wine or champagne
  • 2 parts soda water (club soda)
  • Strawberries or lemon twistl for garnish
  • Ice cubes

HOW TO MIX THIS DRINK

Place a few cubes of ice into a long glass (highball). Pour your St Germain liqueur and sparking wine into the glass.  Top off with soda water and garnish with a strawberry or lemon twist…voila!

You could prepare this cocktail in a jug and serve to your guests at a party.  Check out the St Germain website {HERE} for a great list of recipes using their liqueur.
