Cocktail Hour: Lychee Martini

Tonight’s delicious cocktail is a special tribute to my dear friends – the Durham’s.   Their dinner parties are always marked with a welcoming cocktail and I’ve been fortunate to enjoy their Lychee Martinis on numerous occasions.  I love a good  martini and this lychee version is a heady mix of the sweet perfumed lychee with the strength of a martini.  I’m going to indulge with my own recipe at home…I just hope it’s as good as the Durham’s!

Lychee Martini


  • Four lychees in syrup (canned)
  • Plenty of ice
  • 150ml good vodka
  • 10mls of  Noily Pratt vermouth


Place a lychee at the bottom of two cocktail glasses, then place them carefully in the freezer for 20 minutes so they become really cold.

Add the remaining two lychees in a cocktail shaker, along with a good handful of ice, a splash of the lychee syrup from the can, the vodka and a splash of vermouth.  Secure the top on the shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.  Strain into the iced cocktail glasses and serve with swizzle sticks.
