A Night at the Regent Theatre

July 23, 2012

Last Friday night I attended a gala ball at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre. The event was held in their grand Plaza Ballroom. I was particularly excited about this event, as I did a site visit of the ballroom about five years ago and thought it was a spectacular event space. On this particular night I attended the function as a guest. The table settings were glittering, the dinner menu was delicious, the wines were superb and the service staff were attentive and friendly. It was a magical night.

Here are a few of my iPhone photos from the night.

I met up with friends before the gala ball. We started off the night with a delicious martini from the Westin’s Martini Bar (which is situated right next door to the Regent Theatre).  The cocktail menu has a wonderful selection of gin and vodka martinis. I would recommend the Martini Bar as a great spot to enjoy a decadent cocktail or two before dinner or the theatre.

If you’re looking for a Melbourne venue with grandeur ambiance, then you must visit the Regent Theatre ballroom for a peek.  It has a piazza style foyer with adjoining alcoves for pre-dinner drinks.  Built in 1929, in Spanish Rococo architecture, the ballroom also features a grand staircase, high ceilings and striking chandeliers. It’s perfect for weddings, product launches, fashion shows, theme nights and corporate events.
